Photography

I take most of my photographs with a Nikon 990 Coolpix which I purchased in November 2000 and is still going strong. The 990 has superb optics but suffers from a number of drawbacks:

• The internal flash is too close to the lens always resulting in red-eye
• Although a rugged camera, the battery door is badly designed and prone to fall off. I have not had this problem yet but I am being Very Careful Indeed.
  There are several ways to repair including this fix by John Flowers and this fix by Robert Ruffin. Additionally joining the Yahoo coolpix990 group will give you access to this powerpoint presentation that describes another fix
• Rechargable batteries are essential.
